Excerpt from Sanctification St. Louis, Mo., February 15, en route to Cape Girardeau, Mo., to hold a protracted meeting. I turn myself over to the Lord to write, as he may lead me, on Christian experience. We call the book "Sanctification" for three reasons: 1. Sanctification is used more frequently than any other word in the Bible explanatory of experience. 2. It is the consummation of Christian experience; i. e., it eliminates all sin, and thereby perfects the Christian character. "Free from sin" (Rom. vi. 22). 3. It is the Bible standard of Christianity. Hence, the man who is not entirely sanctified, is beneath his privileges. He is not what God wants him to be. As I expect to finish the book before I get home (to Carlisle, Ky.), I shall find it necessary to quote from the compendious works of Drs. Wood, Watson, etc. I am writing neither for the critical nor the impenitent, but for inquirers after truth and seekers after godliness.
