Excerpt from The Journal of the Institute of Metals, Vol. 11 The Annual General Meeting of the Institute of Metals was held at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Storey´s Gate, Westminster, S.W., on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 17 and 18, 1914, Professor A. K. Huntington, Assoc.R.S.M., the retiring President, occupying the chair on Tuesday, March 17, prior to the declaration of the result of the ballot for the election of officers for the year 1914. Afterwards, and on Wednesday, March 18, the chair was occupied by the President, Engineer Vice-Admiral Sir Henry J. Oram, K.C.B., F.R.S. The Secretary (Mr. G. Shaw Scott, M.Sc.) read the minutes of the previous meeting held at Ghent, Belgium, on August 28 and 29, 1913, which were found to be a correct record, and were signed by the Chairman. Death of Mr. W. H. Johnson, Vice-President. The President said that it was with very much regret that he had to announce the death of one of the Vice-Presidents of the Institute, Mr. W. H. Johnson. Mr. Johnson was well known to all the members; he attended most of the meetings of the Institute from its commencement, and was very largely responsible for its formation. In the early days of the Institute he acted as its Honorary Secretary. He took an immense amount of interest in it, and did a great deal of unassuming work for it, especially at the beginning.
