Sir James Ware, about two centuries ago, gave us a History of our Bishops; a work of great labour and research, which was compiled from the most authoritative sources, and is generally considered to be accurate and faithful, while, at the same time, it abounds in interesting information. That work, which its author first published in detached portions, at various times, was enlarged by Walter Harris, and continued to the year 1739 ;down to which period it may be regarded generally as the best authority for everything relating to the official history of our Prelates.
