The editors of these Memorial Volumes wish to express their thanks to their fellow-students who have made contributions to these volumes for their courteous co-operation in every possible manner. 2. The editors also wish to state that no attempt was made to secure absolute uniformity in the matter of typography. In general, the rules of the American Journal of Semitic Languages and Literatures were followed. Many concessions, however, were made to the wishes of the contributors. 3. The editors regret that Professors Charles F. Kent of Yale University and James F. McCurdy of the University of Toronto were unable to send their contributions on account of illness. They also regret that the contribution of Professor James Henry Breasted of The University of Chicago, on "A New Temple and Town of Ikhnaton in Nubia," could not be included in these volumes on account of a delay in proofs due to illness. Professor Breasted´s contribution will be published in the January or April number of the American Journal of Semitic Languages and Literatures. 4. The editors are gratified to present these volumes on the second anniversary of the death of William Rainey Harper.
