It was bright and clean, as though it had been issued only yesterday from the press, with that air of elegance and picturesque dignity which distinguishes so many of these early efforts. It was arrayed in a handsome purple "jacket," and bore the crown and monogram of George III., to whose fine library, now known as "The King´s," it belonged. It was actually the first printed issue of The Imitation or Following of Christ, the work of Gunther Zainer, sent forth from the good city of "Augus. Vindel," or Augsburg.
