Excerpt from Questions on the Gospels The need has long been felt, by some Sabbath-school Teachers among os, of a Manual upon the Gospels, more full and copious than any now in use. In order to meet this want, the following Questions have been prepared for the use of the school with which the writer is connected ; and it is hoped that they may, in some measure, be adapted to other similar institutions. The chronological arrangement of the subjects will be found to be that adopted in "Carpenter´s Harmony," is giving the clearest and most satisfying view of the life and ministry of Christ. The endeavor has been to connect the life and miracles of Christ with his teachings, doctrines, and parables, so as to impart a more distinct idea of the facts of the Gospels, as connected with their direct, spiritual lessons, - the one casting ever a fuller and clearer light upon the other. Many of the questions refer to the Old Testament, as affording added evidence of the truth of the Christian records, and as illustrating more fully the history, manners, and customs of the Jewish nation. By thus connecting the two revelations, we gain a new conviction of the Divine power and love, manifested in earlier times through patriarohs and prophets, and confirmed to us through the life, teachings, and death of Jesus Christ.
