Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from Recollections of a Georgia Loyalist One of the most interesting chapters of American history, the chapter that fairly describes the Loyalists, or Royalists, of the Revolution, and adequately tells their subsequent fate, for the most part remains yet to be written. It is commonly estimated that when the North American colonies had finally become the United States, the population of the country was less by a hundred thousand than before the war b;an. To England, Upper Canada, the West India Islands, and last, but by no means least, the fertile Province of Nova Scotia, the proud, unflinching, sorrowing Tories flocked. To the latter Province, which then included the sister Province of New Brunswick, certainly fully thirty thousand went, many with Howe´s fleet at the evacuation of Boston, far more from New York, when the proclamation of independence was finally made.
