Excerpt from An Abridgment of the Acts of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland: From 1560 to 1830 Inclusive In the year 1706 an Abridgment of the Acts of the General Assemblies of the Church of Scotland was compiled by the Reverend Mr. Bell; and about the same time Mr. John Dundas, principal clerk of the Assembly, and agent for the Church, undertook a similar work, which was brought down to the year 1720. In 1801, the Reverend Robert Gillan republished this latter work, as if compiled by himself; and in 1821, he published a new edition of it, with a continuation up to that date.
