Pickett: Missionary Superintendent in Southern Iowa and in the Rocky Mountains for the American Home Missionary Society Joseph Worthy Pickett was born at Andover, Ashtabula County, Ohio, January 28, 1832. His ancestors were among the early settlers of New England, who left the mother country in the Puritan emigration of the reign of Charles I. He was of the sixth generation from John Pickett, who came from the County of Kent, England; settled in Salem, Conn., 1648; moved to Stratford, 1660, and died April 11, 1684. The following is the line of descent: - 1. Daniel, 1652-1688. 2. Samuel, 1682-1761. 3. John, 1716 - February, 1807; married Elizabeth Meeker; moved to Sandisfield, Berkshire County, Mass. 4.
