For the last twelve years it has been the custom in the Old South Church in Boston to give a course of Sunday evening lectures during Lent. All save three of these courses have been given by the pastor of the church. Of the courses given by speakers other than the pastor, the third and last is contained in this volume. In arranging this course of lectures the object was to gain from the college its outlook upon the faith and work of the Church.
