Excerpt from The Twenty-Third Report of the Upper Canada Bible Society and Twenty-Fourth of the Society´s Operations: For the Year Ending March 31, 1863, With an Appendix Passed at the Twenty-Third Annual Meeting of the Upper Canada Bible Society, and Thirty-Fourth of the Society´s operations, held in the Wesleyan Church, Richmond Street, on Wednesday Evening, 6th May, 1863. Colonel E. W. Thomson, Vice-President, in the Chair. Prayer by the Rev. James Richardson, D. D. Report read by the Rev. Wm. Reid, A. M. Moved by the Rev. Dr. Thornton; seconded by the Rev. R. Boyle : 1. That the report, an abstract of which has been read, be received, adopted, and printed, for the use of subscribers and for general circulation; and that the following gentlemen be the Office-bearers and Directors for the ensuing year. (See next page.) Moved by the Rev. Dr. Leitch; seconded by the Rev. Edward Sullivan, A. B.: 2. That the past successes of Bible circulation in many lands, the new openings which are still presented for the entrance of the Word of Life, and various events in providence in connexion with the Bible, - the inspired Word of God, and the supreme and infallible rule of faith and life, should more and more unite all true-hearted Christians in vindicating the authority of the Scriptures, and promoting their circulation among all the families of the earth. Moved by the Rev. Alexander Topp, A. M.; seconded by the Rev. Dr. Green: 3. That this meeting, in reviewing the operations of the Bible Society in our own Province during the past year, desires to express its feelings of deep gratitude to Almighty God for the measure of success which He has vouchsafed to us, and that at the same time, we recognize the duty of sustaining with growing vigour the Bible cause, and earnestly ask the continuance of the zealous services of the Branch Societies and their officers throughout the country. The Chairman having left the chair, and the Hon. Chief Justice McLean having been called thereto, it was moved by the Rev. E. Baldwin, M. A.; seconded by the Rev. James Richardson, D. D.: That the thanks of this meeting be given to Colonel E. W. Thomson, for his services in the chair. Moved by Mr. Recorder Duggan: seconded by J. S. Howard, Esq.: That the thanks of this meeting be given to the Trustees of this church, for the use of the same, and to the Choir for their services on the present occasion. Benediction by the Rev. A.
