They are now offered to the British Public by a stranger in blood, in creed, and in language; by a student too early withdrawn from the advantages of systematic study. In contrasting the New Civilization with the Old, the writer cannot pretend always to maturity of experience or soundness of conclusion. All that he claims is a friendly conversation, in open council, with Englishmen on the one hand and Indians on the other. That granted, he hopes these rambles in the field of Humanity may not prove altogether to be the ramblings of a vacant mind. Our little journal may now be considered as up to date - if this be possible in such a case. The first two editions were put forward, in London, under a rather uninviting title against which neither entreaty nor protest could avail.
