Excerpt from Two Mysteries; Or Sacred Dramas for Convents or Families: Christmas-Night and St. Ursula The first of these little pieces was composed for the Orphans of St. Margaret´s Home, in Queen Square, and was acted by them at Christmas, 1861. It has been repeated since in other places. The second was written at the request of the children of St. Ursula´s convent, at Upton, near Stratford; who first exacted a promise of compliance with what they were going to ask. Though the subject was not easy, a promise to children is too sacred an engagement not to be fulfilled. Both pieces having often been asked for, it has been thought well to publish them, for a purpose which will secure indulgence to their defects.
