Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from The Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ Asserted and Proved: And the Connexion of This Doctrine With Practical Religion, Pointed Out, in Five Sermons The discourses of the Rev. Mr. Sinclare Kelburn, upon the Divinity of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ contain a clear statement and judicious defence of that essential doctrine of Christianity. They are written in a very good style and engaging manner, and they are contained within so small a compass as to be attainable by the poor. It is with pleasure therefore, that I take this opportunity to recommend them to the attention and perusal of all my fellow Christians; they may serve as an useful remedy against the poison of corrupt principles contained in some pamphlets lately published in this city, which though extremely superficial, are, however, dangerous to those who have not read much upon the subject. Persons who have not leisure to read, or ability to purchase Mr. Gowan´s masterly, witty, and victorious refutation of Dr. Priestley; or Fuller´s fifteen letters, filled with unanswerable arguments against the Socinian heresy, may find in these discourses what will be sufficient to satisfy every candid and enquiring mind, that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God; from whence we justly infer, that his atonement is an infinite satisfaction to divine justice in the forgiveness of sin, and that moral evil therefore, is infinite in its malignity and demerit. John B. Smith, A. M. Minister of the 3d Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia. N. B. It is hoped that the opposers of the Divinity of our Saviour will be candid enough to regard the arguments contained in the books above mentioned, as those on which judicious Christians rely for a defence of their principles, rather than on the weak and obscure, though well-intended answer to Dr. Priestley´s appeal, which has been lately published here.
