Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from The Odes of Horace: A Translation and an Exposition My grateful thanks are due to T. Butler, Esq., and to Dr F. A. Todd, respectively Professor of Latin and Classical Lecturer in the University of Sydney, for their interest in this work, and for the help their criticisms have afforded; also to J. Lee Pulling, Esq., of the Staff of the Church of England Grammar School, North Sydney, for his readiness at all times to give me the benefit of his scholarship in the discussion of various points arising in this inquiry. It need hardly be said that these acknowledgments do not imply participation in any heresies against the canon of traditional criticism for which I may be thought responsible. In conclusion I desire to acknowledge the courtesy of Dr A. W. Verrall (Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge) in explaining by correspondence some points with reference to his book on Horace about which I was anxious for information.
