I wish to trace, in the light of Queen Victoria´s Letters the attitude of the Crown towards the Whig Ministers and the party who supported them; and to enquire whether Lord Melbourne, Lord John Russell, Lord Palmerston, and their friends represented the historic Whiggery of the eighteenth century.
