These are contained in volumes which are read by few; and they are concealed beneath a repellent orthography; but there is virtue in them which ought to be felt; and I have endeavoured to release it. I do not pretend to have given a complete collection of Knox´s good things; but at least I have creamed them and furnished enough to familiarise the reader not only with his ideas but with the remarkable phraseology in which these were expressed; and my hope is that the following pages may help to make it true that "he, being dead, yet speaketh."
