Excerpt from Classified Catalogue of the Books, Except Fiction, French and German, in the Carnegie Free Library of Allegheny, Pa: Class List, Author-Index, Subject-Index, Comprising Books Added From July 1895 to June 1897 Inclusive This supplement contains all books added to the library, except books of fiction and books in the French and German languages, from July, 1895, to June, 1897, inclusive. The plan of the supplement is, in the main, the same as that of the general catalogue. For explanations and instructions how to use the supplement, see the preface to the general catalogue. One deviation, however, from the plan of the general catalogue has been thought advisable. The references in the subject index are made to the pages (paging at the bottom) and not to the class numbers at the top of the page. Catalogues of the French and German books are issued separately. An asterisk(*) prefixed to the call-number means that the book is not for circulation. The letter J prefixed to the call-number means that the book is suited to juvenile readers. The initial letters I for Italian, S for Spanish, and R for Russian are prefixed to the call-numbers of books written in those languages. Readers are requested to apply without hesitation to the librarian if they find any difficulty in understanding the catalogue.
