Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from Ireland and the Holy See in the Middle Ages This book was written by me in consequence of my having published a pamphlet, which however I speedily withdrew from circulation. I thought Rome´s never ending efforts to frustrate all attempts at severance of England from Ireland showed a supreme contempt for Irish patriotism, especially the donation of Pope Adrian to Henry II. A deeper study has convinced me of what perhaps I ought to have taken for granted, namely, that Rome´s policy with respect to Irish subjection to England was not based on selfish motives, but purely for the good of the Irish themselves.
