Excerpt from Remarks of Hon. R. S. Burrows and Address by Hon. Noah Davis: On the Occasion of the National Obsequies of President Lincoln, at Albion, N. Y., April 19, 1865 Albion, April 20, 1865. Hon. Noah Davis: Dear Sir: - The undersigned, a Committee for that purpose, respectfully request that you will furnish the Address delivered by you on the occasion of the obsequies of President Lincoln, for publication. J .M. Cornell, G. H. Sickels, H. J. Van Dusen, J. H. White, C. A. Harrington. Albion, April 20, 1865. Gentlemen: I do not feel at liberty to deny your request; but in putting the manuscript of my Address into your bands, I feel bound, in justice to myself to say, that it was written under great pressure as to time, while I was laboring under severe indisposition, and with no view to publication. I do not think it proper to re-write it and thus furnish anything that was not spoken, and therefore hand you the manuscript precisely as delivered. I am, &c., N. Davis. To C. A. Harrington and others, Committee. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
