True, writers of olden times have more than once alluded to Asmodeus. In Tobit´s book, for instance, he is made to bear a not very enviable character, being charged with the murder, one after another, of Sarah´s seven husbands; and for that bloody performance, he was pointed out as the demon of divorce, or the evil genius of marriage.
