He viewed the fabric, and strayed among the grassy grave-mounds that lay so thickly in the surrounding cemetery, reading the mementos graven on head-stones to those whose hearts are laid to rest around the fane within which they have so often swelled with emotion. The erection of the porch was then in progress, and, after speaking for a time with the masons engaged on the work, he went his way.
