Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from The Seven Laws of Prayer I was told that to pray well and to live close to God one must spend hours in prayer or at least as much time as possible. This I tried thoroughly but found it a great mistake. Prayer is obtaining an audience with God, the King of the Universe. I should not take His time unless there is real occasion. No need is too small to bring to Him but it is folly to prolong my prayers thinking that will please Him or that there is virtue in long prayers. Sometimes, since giving up that practice, I have spent hours in prayer but there was occasion for it. A prayer list was suggested as a good thing. I tried it and to some extent still favor it. I received many requests for prayer which I added to my list without seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the matter. In time my list became very long and believing that each person and object named on my list must be prayed over every day, I soon found myself praying by rote with time merely to name these objects of prayer to God. I soon saw that this was not real praying. Now I seek to have the guidance of the Holy Spirit in my prayer life. I have set times and set objects for Prayer, but as I am moved to pray or if need for prayer arises I pray anywhere, riding, walking - anywhere. It may be necessary for some to pray from a sense of duty but prayer at its best is spontaneous. I am in need. I take it to God. A problem arises, I ask God about it. A blessing is experienced. I cry "Lord, you are so good!" This is to me the real prayer life. I walk and talk with God and He answers. - The Author.
