Ten of the seventeen were preached before the University of Oxford; one before the Nottingham Church Congress; one at the re-opening of Chester Cathedral; one in Manchester Cathedral, before the British Medical Association; one in York Minster, before the British Association; one at St. Andrews Church, Holbom; two in Westminster Abbey. Moreover, of the ten Sermons preached before the University of Oxford, five were also preached in Westminster Abbey, and one before the University of Cambridge.
