I just told him then and there, that if I waited until he asked me to go anywhere, but to one of his old vaudeville shows, I would be dead and in my grave. He hasn´t a spark of sympathy, and laughed in the most hateful way. You can´t drag him to the opera and he always sleeps through a concert. And would you believe it, dearie, before we were married he pretended to like Wagner. He calls Fido ´Siegfried´ because he says he yelps just like a german tenor. You may laugh, dearie, but I think it is perfectly disgusting to talk so. My dear, take my advice and never let a man suspect that you think he is funny or your life will be a burden. What I have suffered with my sensitive nature nobody will ever know. I suppose it is because of my musical temperament.
