Excerpt from Correspondence of Princess Lieven and Earl Grey, Vol. 3 The present volume contains the close of the correspondence between Princess Lieven and Lord Grey, from August of the year 1834, when Prince Lieven was recalled from the Embassy in London and appointed Governor of the young Czarewitch (afterwards Alexander II.), down to August of the year 1841, when the correspondence ends. Earl Grey died July, 1845, but apparently during the last four years of his life ceased to correspond with the Princess.
