Produktbeschreibung

Excerpt from Mormonism Triumphant: Truth Vindicated, Lies Refuted, the Devil Mad, and Priestcraft in by J. H. Flanigan Being a Reply to Palmer´s Internal Evidence Against the Book of Mormon Dear Elder Pratt, - Doubtless you very well know what it is to be presiding, travelling from place to place, counselling, visiting and setting in order branches, preaching and writing all at the same time: such, however, have been the circumstances under which the following Reply to the Rev. Mr. Palmer has, at leisure intervals, been thrown together. You will, therefore, please to excuse and correct any want of uniformity in words or style, as I have aimed more at simple truth and matters of fact, than erudition of style or technical phraseology. As to its merits or demerits I shall be silent, and cheerfully submit it to the candid perusal and decision of all truth-lovers, whose motto is to "hear both sides of a question" - "to prove all things, and hold fast that which is good." I find that many are disposed to credit the numerous outlandish misrepresentations against the Latter-day Saints, solely because they are not continually and forever contradicting and correcting them. This must be my only apology for letting Truth grapple with Error, in a short but fair combat, to prove the superiority of its cause; not by the use of "blaspheming condemnations," (which are terms used by the Rev. Mr. Palmer to scare people from the use of their understandings, lest they should perceive the uselessness of non-commissioned, sectarian, hireling priests,) but by open and equal contest, according to the "law and testimony;" nor can Truth fear the result. Knowing that the great ocean of error may toss the bark of reason forever in vain, while an hours use of the helm of Mighty Truth might triumphantly land the vessel in the destined port, I venture to attempt the task of steering the vessel of truth into that port to which your ocean of revealed light is capable of bearing it.
