Those from abroad, were written under the pressure of constant travel and excitement. Composed in the midst of such varied surroundings, a book was not the aim. As they have increased from year to year, their collection has been urged. Believing I could select and classify better than those who might come after me, I have at last complied. They are here grouped together, children of my heart, the blossoms of hope and joy. If the reader shall find pleasure and profit in their perusal, the writer will be compensated a thousandfold.
