Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from Christ´s College I have also made constant use of his MS. volumes in the University Library (Mm. v. 40-52), of which one deals exclusively with God´s House and four with Christ´s College. A little parchment book, written by Dr. Cudworth to aid him in his bursarial labours, gives a good account of the College property at the middle of the seventeenth century; a fuller work on the same subject was commenced only by Dr. Towers about 1730. I have drawn something from MS. sources at the University Registry, especially 92 (1 and 2), and Misc., 6, 7; these relate wholly to Christ´s College. The Matriculation and Degree Books at the same place have been useful for my present purpose, but more for a Biographical Register of the members of the College from 1505-1900, at which I have worked for several years, following the example of Dr. Venn, whose Register of Gonville and Caius College is a monument of accurate and exhaustive research. At the British Museum I have gone carefully through the Cole MSS., and have consulted the Baker MSS.; I spent much time over Mead´s inimitable letters (MS. Harl., 389, 390), see p. 134. The Master and Fellows of Sidney Sussex kindly allowed me to make full use of Samuel Ward´s Diary (see p. 107).
