Afghans are those tribes of Mahommedans who inhabit the northern parts of India, called sometimes Pattâns, and esteemed the best soldiers in the country. Anna, the sixteenth part of a rupee. Assàmmies, dependents, or any persons on whom a claim is made. Attach, the name of a river that separates the province of Lahôre from Peifhor, the stream of which is mostly so very rapid, that there is but one place where an army can conveniently pass it. Auméen, a Supra-visor, or officer employed by the government to examine and regulate the state of the revenues of any district.
