The Court House was filled to overflowing. Hon. Richard Lockhart Hand, President of the village, called the meeting to order with the following opening remarks: Ladies and Gentlemen: - On this most beautiful afternoon of the declining Summer, when the death, within our midst, of one who has so long been a revered and beloved pastor, adds new pathos to the solemnities of the hour, the duty is assigned to me of calling this meeting to order and explaining briefly the occasion of assembling ourselves together.
