Robertson, who, in collecting facts connected with his father´s life, did, in fact, a large share of the work. Having exhausted every possible source of information, he generously left the entire matter in my hands, and this volume would be incomplete without the record of his labours, and the expression of my appreciation of his confidence. In view of my somewhat voluminous quotations, I think it not unlikely that I may be accused of "book-making."
