Although they preceded the Edinburgh convention by more than a year, and the program of that convention was not then before the public, it will be seen that Dr. Buckley discussed all of the essential subjects that were before that great body of missionaries and the advocates of the world´s missionary movements. This is not strange, however, as Dr. Buckley had for many years been one of the leaders of missionary thought in his Church, and has been annually a member of the General Missionary Committee, where every part of the missionary world is brought in review and critically considered. No man of this great body has given more intelligent direction to its work or more conscientious and careful study of its methods.
