Much depends upon the manner in which the lesson is presented by the teacher. It should be her aim so to interest her pupils that she has the individual attention of each and all of her class; also to have the idea of the author expressed in the most natural, conversational manner. Reading is not simply a repetition of words. It consists in comprehending the thoughts of an author, and so rendering the author´s expression of these thoughts that the same meaning is conveyed to the hearer.
