Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from Life of Daniel O´connell The only complete Life of O´Connell hitherto published is Miss Cusack´s, a bulky and uncritical book, founded, however, upon a considerable quantity of unpublished materials, chiefly correspondence with Archbishop McHale, not all of which was used. John O´Connell began a life of his father, which he brought in two thick volumes as far as 1824. Of this book it is difficult to speak temperately. A son, writing of his father in the father´s lifetime, is not expected to be impartial, but that is no reason why be should be grotesquely eulogistic of his father and his party and indecently abusive of his opponents. Such merit as the book has is due to its being a kind of scrapbook of the speeches and resolutions at the meetings from 1810 to 1824. The same author´s edition of his father´s speeches is carried only a year or two farther. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
