Certain chance sentences, expressing admiration and appreciation of Galt, fell upon the wayside of a publisher´s mind; where, not being instantly devoured by the birds of the air, they sprang up, and, in due course, they brought forth the excellent fruit of this new edition. Having had thus, at least, a left-handed and god-paternal interest in the enterprise, I am called upon to be present at the christening.
