Produktbeschreibung
Communism was considered as a threat by US and its policies centred round relations and strategies to counter it. US extended all types of moral, political, financial and military aid to all the countries which in one way or the other could prove helpful for US in its policies to face communism. After the break up of USSR in 1990s the world became unipolar with US as the only existing super power. This status enjoyed by US is also reflected in its policies all round the world including Pakistan and Afghanistan. This change in policies gave birth to other issues and the most severe of which is terrorism which flourished a lot after the 1990s. Pakistan which served as a front line state, major ally and foremost agent in the breakdown of USSR after its withdrawal from Afghanistan facing a humiliating retreat. The seeds of hatred and rejection might have been sowed during this post cold war era and the fruit of which got ripen in the form of 9/11 tragedy. Therefore the basic objective of this work is to explore empirically and normatively the relationship between three states namely Pakistan, United States and Afghanistan in the region as a whole with particular reference to terrorism.
