Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from Standardization of Rural Schools in Kansas, Vol. 1 In order to give proper recognition to rural schools of the best type, those that more than fulfill the requirements for a standard school, there is established, beginning with the school year of 1917- 18, a higher classification, to be known as superior schools. The superior school must meet all the requirements for a standard school exceptionally well, with the following additional requirements: A schoolhouse of wholly approved architectural type, modern in all its appointments. Single desks of four or five sizes, or adjustable desks of three sizes. A library of at least 100 volumes of unquestionable quality, with at least 10 selected for each grade. A good musical instrument. A reasonable amount of playground equipment. Practical application of the principles of school hygiene and sanitation. Some systematic attention given to the teaching of manual training, home economics, or general handiwork. A superior teacher holding a state certificate, a first-grade county certificate, or a normal-training certificate. (A high-school graduate with a second-grade certificate and at least one years experience will be accepted.) Teacher´s salary at least $480 per year. An enrollment of not fewer than ten pupils, with a high percent of attendance and no habitual tardiness. A superior school will be awarded a diploma and metal plate similar to those awarded to standard schools, and the recognition thus given will be subject to withdrawal whenever the school fails to maintain a high degree of excellence.
