Grief I have supposed to be sedate and retiring, indisposed to communication, and above all things, incapable of exertion. I ridiculed the woes of Lord Lyttelton, whose poem on the death of his wife, though I could not deny its power over the heart of the reader, did not in my opinion proceed from that of the author.
