Excerpt from The Policy of Social Reform in England: Lectures Delivered at the Institute by the Eighty Club Since the time when Germany formulated her Insurance Law there has been no more thorough or systematic attempt to devise a policy adapted to the present organization of society than the legislation initiated by the British Government during the last few years. The Solvay Institute of Sociology in Brussels was anxious to disseminate some knowledge of the main outlines of this policy. It made advances to the authors of it and was fortunate enough to obtain the help of the important political organization The Eighty Club of which Mr. Lloyd George, Chancellor of the Exchequer, is now the President. Lectures were delivered by four gentlemen distinguished in the Parliamentary and Political life of England. In addition to this a delegation from The Eighty Club visited the Institute to lake part in a general discussion, to which about a hundred persons, representing a variety of opinions, had been invited.
