It uses the Right to self -determination and principles beyond decolonization as the framework to consider the recent US Supreme Court ruling on "Baby Veronica" a Native American child, right to Identity and culture. This is a framework rarely engaged in by the "lukewarm defenders" of indigenous rights to discuss complicated issues involved in adoption of Native children by non-Native parents under the Indian Child Welfare Act.
