It is not a treatise on the Lord´s Supper, and is not intended to rival or supersede larger works on this subject, Among these, the preference may safely be given to the Communicant´s Companion, by the Rev. Matthew Henry. The latter portion of this manual is taken up with a series of brief counsels, not limited to the sacrament, but concerning the whole beginnings of a Christian walk. The performance, small and plain as it is, may be found useful to simple-minded professors of some standing in the Church, especially such as have been destitute of careful instruction.
