Produktbeschreibung

Excerpt from Memorial to the Life and Character of Hon. Benson Wood The life of Hon. Benson Wood was an open book; a record of conscientious devotion to duty and righteous living; a record of faithful, intelligent and honorable service in every field in which he was called to labor. A book without a stain or blot. To those who knew him personally, and to those who shall read the record of his life, an example and an inspiration. As a boy he was lovingly obedient to his parents and faithful in whatever tasks were assigned to him. As a student he sought eagerly to know whatever might be learned in the schools that he attended. As a teacher he was diligent and taught with a conscientious sense of the great responsibility of those who undertake to direct the steps of young men and women starting on the journey of life. As a patriotic citizen he responded promptly to the call of his endangered country and as a soldier, whether in camp, on the toilsome march or in the white heat of battle, every service required was rendered; every duty performed. As a lawyer he was learned, honest and honorable. In his lifelong practice he conformed to the highest standards of the profession and attained an eminence that makes his name illustrious. As a citizen he was public spirited and progressive. He walked the ways of private and public life and business blamelessly. His home life was ideally bright and happy. He lived, and will be remembered as a perfect type of a Christian gentleman. Benson Wood was born at Bridgewater in the State of Pennsylvania, on the 31st day of December, A. D. 1839.
