Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from The McMaster University Monthly, Vol. 15: October, 1905, to May, 1906 The vacancy in the Chancellorship of McMaster University has been filled by the appointment of Alexander Charles McKay, B.A., LL.D., professor of Mathematics and Physics since the opening of the Arts department. Chancellor McKay enters upon his duties enjoying in the fullest measure the confidence of the University. The Board and Senate were unanimous in their choice of him; his colleagues on the Faculty are a unit in warmest commendation of his appointment, and in unbounded loyalty to him as their leader; the graduates express the greatest satisfaction upon his elevation to the headship of their Alma Mater; and the undergraduates have expressed in unmistakeable terms their delight at the honor done their favorite professor. The denomination as a whole, through the Convention, has set its seal of approval upon the action of the University authorities in selecting him to fill the highest position in its work of Christian education. Chancellor McKay fully deserves the confidence reposed in him. His character, scholarship, and experience mark him out as a worthy successor of Dr. McVicar, Dr. Rand, and Dr. Wallace. Dr. McVicar was a trained educationist, facile in drafting and correlating courses. Dr. Rand was a man of broad outlook, far-seeing vision, and high ideals. Dr. Wallace possessed large executive powers, which he gladly gave to the service of McMaster. Chancellor McKay is not without a generous equipment of the same qualities as distinguished his predecessors.
