A great deal of what is here gathered is new, or has never been set forth with so much detail and hitherto unknown particulars. The truly romantic history of Theodore of Corsica is of course familiar, so far as its meagre outline is concerned; but here it is for the first time related at length, with details drawn from hitherto unknown sources, contemporary Italian works, MSS., etc.; and I think it may be fairly claimed that as a stirring and picturesque piece of romance it is well worth recording.
