Excerpt from The Society of the Army of the Potomac: Report of the Fifteenth Annual Re-Union at Brooklyn, N. Y; June 11 and 12, 1884 Early in February a local Executive Committee, selected in pursuance of the provision of the by-laws, met at the residence of the Recording Secretary, in Brooklyn, General Newton presiding. The Committee comprised: Major-General Henry W. Slocum, Major-General E. L. Molineux, Major-General James Jourdan, Brig. General Calvin E. Pratt, Brig. General Francis E. Pinto, Brig. General S. L. Woodford, Col. Samuel Truesdell, Col. James McLeer, Col. Charles N. Manchester, Col. James H. Platt, Col. William II. Paine, Major E, W. Brueninghausen, Major James L. Farley, Captain Henry C. Ellis, Sergeant Henry C. Larowe, Corporal James Tanner; and they appointed a sub-committee, composed of Generals Newton, Slocum, Molineux and King, to wait upon the Mayor and solicit his co-operation in the reception to the Society of the Army of the Potomac. The Mayor, Hon. Seth Low, entered heartily into the spirit of the Re-union, and accepted the position of Chairman of the Citizens´ Committee, about to be formed. The Board of Aldermen appointed the following Special Committee on the reception, and to report as to the propriety of an appropriation by the city: Messrs. James Kane, George J. Collins, John A. Quintard, Moses Engle and William C. Bowers. Upon their report, the Board appropriated five thousand dollars. The Board of Supervisors also appointed a committee, namely: Messrs. Henry O. Collard, Thos. Harold, Jr., Edw. J. Thomas, Theo. Maurer and Eugene F. Barnes. Upon their report that no further appropriation of money would be required, it was voted to devote the County Court House to the use of the several Corps for their meetings, and to decorate the county buildings.
