Excerpt from Discourse on the Establishment of a National and Constitutional Force in England The following Tract was first published in the year one thousand seven hundred and fifty-seven, and notwithstanding it was ushered into the world without a name, it had the desired effect. From the general fate of anonymous pamphlets, it has become extremely scarce, and of course not to be purchased at any price. Those who had it in their possession knew too well the value of the work to permit it to pass out of their hands. The publisher has been induced, by the opinion of several gentlemen, to think that such a work, at this critical time, may not be uninteresting to the public. It is but justice to the writer, that the reader should be informed, the book is re-printed without one word being altered, or the least addition made.
