It includes the second part of the percoid series, the majority of which are valued market or commercial fishes. As in the preceding volumes, most of the localities relate to the Philippines, though the other localities in the Netherland Indies, China, Formosa, and Oceania visited by the Albatross are also included. The prefatory remarks of the other volumes as to the organization and personnel of the scientific staff under the direction of Dr. Hugh M. Smith apply equally well in the present work.
