The Jesuit Fathers of the Rue de Sèvres undertook to give them these instructions, and the celebrated Pere Felix of that Order,, more than once preacher of the great Lenten Conferences of Notre Dame, presided at the first meetings; but being called away from Paris in the autumn of 1867, he was succeeded by the Pere Matignon, the author of the present Conferences.
