Produktbeschreibung
Excerpt from The Gospel According to Mark Although the Translator of the following Gospel is decidedly of opinion that he has already, in the Prefaces to his translations of the other three Gospels, made a sufficient apology to the public for his Extracts from the Theological Writings of Emanuel Swedenborg, yet he is still willing to add to that apology, by suggesting some further considerations tending to confirm the credibility of that Writer´s testimony, and thus proving him to be, what thousands.are now convinced he is, "a Scribe instructed unto the kingdom of heaven." Having already, then, in the above Prefaces, endeavoured to establish the credit of this Heaven instructed Scribe, so far as it is grounded in the sublime and edifying views presented in his various Writings, respecting, - first, the Divinity and Plenary Inspiration of the Sacred Scriptures; secondly, respecting the Divine Character of the Great Saviour, and His Oneness with the Eternal Father; and thirdly, respecting the truly Christian Life, as being the result of Charity, Faith, and Good Works united; - the Translator is now eager to add to all this splendid testimony the doctrine inculcated by the same Writer concerning a future state, or that invisible world of certainties and realities, to which every human being is introduced on the removal of those material bonds which at present detain him in a world of shadows and uncertainties. This doctrine may be viewed under three distinct aspects, all of which are in its favour, as indicative of its origin, its excellence, and its blessed tendency.
